Whenever possible, send us a photograph of the rug and indicate:

2. Rug collection

Once the service has been agreed, the rug collection is arranged for the agreed location and time.

The Biomex team takes care of transportation to our facilities, so the customer does not have to move or transport an item that is often heavy or particularly large.

3. Assessment at our facilities

Once collected, the rug is taken to Biomex’s facilities, where its characteristics and overall condition are assessed. 

This assessment is important because not all rugs can be treated in the same way. A wool rug, for example, may require different care from a synthetic rug. The same applies to shaggy rugs, natural-fibre rugs or more delicate pieces.

The cleaning method is therefore adapted to the material, structure and specific needs of each rug.

4. Cleaning and treatment

The next stage is professional cleaning, designed to remove dirt that has accumulated within the fibres and at the base of the rug.

Why are rugs cleaned at our facilities rather than at home?

How should I prepare my rug for collection?

Preparation is simple: there is no need to carry out any special cleaning before our team arrives.

Whenever possible:

• Remove any small objects placed on the rug;
• Keep the surrounding area clear;
• Let us know if there is heavy furniture that you cannot move;
• Tell us about any specific stains or odours;
• Let us know if you have already used any cleaning products on the affected area.

There is also no need to try to remove old stains immediately before collection. In fact, applying several detergents, rubbing excessively or using bleach can alter the colour, damage the fibres or make subsequent treatment more difficult. How do I know if my rug needs a deep clean?

A large stain is not always the sign that it is time to clean your rug.

There are other signs you should look out for:

• The colour looks darker or duller;
• There are persistent odours;
• The rug still looks dirty after vacuuming;
• There are old stains;
• There is a significant build-up of pet hair;
• Several years have passed since the last deep clean.

With high-pile rugs, some dirt can remain hidden around the base of the fibres even when the surface appears relatively clean. What if the rug has pet urine or odours?

Urine and other organic residues can penetrate the fibres and backing of the rug, causing odours that do not always disappear with surface cleaning.
